Building Caring, Confident Youth  &  Future Leaders

In the true spirit of Camp Fire, volunteers, campers, counselors, board members, club members and Hitaga alumni have been working together build a bright future for Camp Hitaga and the Iowana Council of Camp Fire.

The “Together We Build” (TWB) campaign was launched by a group of alumni who came together at Camp Hitaga for Camp Fire’s 100th Anniversary on July 31, 2010.  Together, this group developed a plan to meet the financial and leadership challenges of the Iowana Council, and set a goal of raising $250,000 by the end of 2012.

As of the end of December, 2011, we have received support from 142 donors from 29 states across the country giving at all levels, from $5 - $50,000, adding up to over $182,000 in cash and pledges, with almost $152,000 already received.  We are very encouraged by this generous response, and hope you will help us reach our target.

We have set aside 15% of TWB proceeds not otherwise designated by the donor to increase marketing and 30% toward the salary of our new professional Executive Director, with the remaining 55% to be used for current and future operating expenses and capital improvements.

Two thirds of TWB donors so far have been Alumni.  One third have made multi-year pledges.  Donations have been made in honor of 17 people, groups and concepts, including “The Camp Hitaga that is part of us all…” and in memory of 20 departed friends and leaders, from Mrs. B and Noel Newell to Jean Halverson to Verona Buchele, who we sadly lost just after our reunion, in July 2011.

Please join us in building together!
